I don’t know how many pieces of furniture I have redone over the years, but its quite a few. Today, I thought I would share a couple of my favorites. After years of painting, mostly interiors, I have become sensitive to paint fumes. But Fusion Mineral Paint has become a game changer for painting furniture!
I mix it with a very small amount of Flood Floetrol, a paint extender for acrylic paints. Fusion Mineral Paint goes on super easy and dries to a beautiful finish, all the while not causing me an enormous headache or breathing issues, like most paints. It says it can be used with a mini roller, however in my experience a brush creates a much better finish.
Be sure to thoroughly clean and sand beforehand and also, sand lightly with at least a 220-grit paper between the first and second coat of paint and remove all sanding dust. A cheese cloth works great for that!

I sold this cute little dresser a couple years ago to a couple expecting their first baby. They planned to use it as a changing table. Perfect size for that! It remains one of my absolute favorites! The handles were originals, but I included a link for some similar ones.
Most painters and DIYers have their favorite tools for the trade. If you’re new to painting furniture or looking for a new tool, here are a few of my favorites:
